Deep Archival
Extreme Volumetric Efficiency for your Massive Data Archives
Compliance and business requirements are driving the need to retain increasing levels of information and to provide instantaneous access to massively growing stores of archived data. Whether your need is to bring archives online, digitize content or to simplify and cost-effectively manage massive amounts of data files, S2A Extreme Storage provides the optimal archiving platform.
Unlike conventional disk and tape-based storage, S2A houses more capacity in the smallest footprint available today, delivering 150TB per square foot, up to 10x higher density than conventional storage offerings. Management is simplified by drastically reducing the number of systems, networking components and floor space required to manage even the largest archives. Industry-leading bandwidth accelerates ingesting large amounts of content and provides extremely rapid access to data. Ultra density enables you to free up valuable floor space and store up to 2.4 PB in just two racks. D-MAID spins down drives with less frequently accessed data to provide significant power savings, up to 80% over conventional storage systems.
D-MAID aids in tier 3 and 4 archival applications served today by virtual tape libraries and conventional tape. D-MAID enables you to dynamically spin down LUNs based on your own parameters and is not a static "on/off" implementation. This variable disk power down solution is important in markets where data is infrequently accessed and lower cost long-term storage solutions that consume less energy are desired.
The extreme volumetric efficiency of the S2A platforms enable you to reduce the system instances in your data center and aggregate more capacity behind each appliance, providing a superior amortization of your capital investments.
As ISP Planet noted, "it's very dense storage--the highest density that we know of."
